30 New Community‑Led Climate Adaptation Projects Across the Global South

Showcasing innovative, community‑driven research shaping resilient futures.

The Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA), in collaboration with SouthSouthNorth (SSN), is proud to announce a new cohort of 30 awardees from Africa, Asia‑Pacific, and Latin America & the Caribbean, each receiving up to GBP 15,000 to design and implement inclusive, locally led projects that help communities adapt to the impacts of climate change.

 

These projects reflect the ARA’s core mission: supporting action‑oriented, equitable, and user‑driven research that delivers real solutions for those on the frontlines of climate impacts. Launched at COP26, the ARA brings together researchers, funders, policymakers, development organisations, and community‑based groups committed to shaping climate‑resilient futures.

 

Our newly released video series celebrates the awardees and showcases the diverse and innovative ways they are strengthening resilience: from community‑centred early‑warning systems to nature‑based solutions to knowledge-sharing and capacity building.

 

At the heart of this work is the Adaptation Research for Impact Principles, which guide research that is:

  • driven by the needs of users,
  • co‑produced with local experts, and
  • equitable in practice.
