UNFCCC SB62 Side Event – Enhancing transparency and accountability in climate finance: Lessons from civil society

The Green Accountability Platform will host an official side event at the UNFCCC SB62 Meetings in Bonn titled, “Enhancing transparency and accountability in climate finance: Lessons from civil society.”
On the road to 1.3t, it is imperative to establish robust governance and accountability mechanisms to support the delivery of climate finance and ensure the participation and empowerment of civil society and climate-affected communities in funding decisions, particularly in the Global South.
This side event, co-hosted by SouthSouthNorth (SSN) and the Huairou Commission, will bring together representatives from projects and communities working on innovative tools and mechanisms for accountability at the national, subnational and local levels, with linkages to UNFCCC processes for more equitable, affordable and transparent climate finance.

The Green Accountability Platform is a multi-stakeholder initiative launched by the World Bank’s CIVIC: The Civil Society and Social Innovation Alliance (GPSA) in partnership with World Resources Institute, Huairou Commission, and SouthSouthNorth. The Platform deepens engagement with CSOs and grassroots organisations working on the front lines of climate action and helps develop their networks to leverage citizen voice and accountability, with the aim of building systems to enhance the quality, effectiveness, and equity of climate finance.
