Honouring a Legacy of Leadership and Looking Ahead with Confidence

After more than 16 years of dedicated service, we announce the forthcoming departure of our colleague and Director, Carl Wesselink, from SouthSouthNorth.

Carl has played an instrumental role in shaping SSN into the organisation it is today. From his early leadership of programme development to his steady stewardship as a Director, his contribution has been both deep and enduring. Over a period marked by significant growth in scale, scope, and complexity, Carl has consistently brought clarity of thought, institutional rigour, and a strong sense of purpose to our work.

Beyond his formal roles, Carl has also served as a trusted legal and organisational anchor—providing counsel, continuity, and a level of diligence that has strengthened SSN’s foundations in ways that are deeply felt across the organisation.

His legacy is reflected not only in the systems and strategies that will continue to guide us, but also in the culture of professionalism, integrity, and collegiality that he has helped to foster. As with any long-standing member of a leadership team, his departure marks the end of a significant chapter.

At the same time, this transition has been carefully anticipated and planned for. SSN remains well-positioned, with a strong leadership team, a clear strategic direction, and the institutional depth required to continue delivering on our mission.

We therefore approach this moment with both appreciation and confidence: appreciation for Carl’s exceptional contribution, and confidence in the organisation’s continued stability and forward trajectory.

While Carl will be stepping away from his day-to-day responsibilities, his connection to SSN will endure. We look forward to continuing to draw on his insight and experience in the years ahead, as opportunities arise.

We extend our sincere thanks to Carl for his years of service, leadership, and commitment, and wish him every success in the next chapter.
