Project Title: Documenting the Impact of CDKN’s Work with Women Groups in Upper West Region, Ghana

Duration: From mid-August 2025 to mid-February 2026 (six months)

Location: Accra, Ghana (only candidates based in Ghana will be considered for this post)

SouthSouthNorth invites experienced consultants to submit proposals for a short-term consultancy to document the impact of the Climate and Development Knowledge Network’s (CDKN) engagement with women’s groups in Ghana’s Upper West Region. The initiative harnessed community-based knowledge brokering tools, such as local songs and radio programming, to enhance women’s participation in public dialogue and decision-making on climate change. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with a background in gender equality and social inclusion, development work, evaluation, and storytelling—those who can capture not just data, but the human stories behind the numbers.

Purpose of the Consultancy

The consultant will lead the process of documenting the initiative’s approach, key lessons learnt, and its impact on improving the status and wellbeing of women in rural Ghana within the context of climate change. The final products will include a 5–7 minute video documentary, a 1-minute social media version of the documentary, and a 2,000 to 2,500-word ‘Inside Story’ publication. These products will be designed for international audiences, showcasing effective practices and innovative, Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI)-transformative approaches to local climate action through the use of creative arts.

Scope of Work

  • Conduct desk review and stakeholder consultations.
  • Travel to implementation sites within Upper West Region Ghana for fieldwork.
  • Document beneficiary testimonials from project stakeholders and collect visual content.
  • Coordinate and supervise all field visit activities, including the work of the filmmaker.
  • Analyse field findings and produce a compelling inside story publication.

Deliverables

  • Inception report outlining work approach, methodology and timeline.
  • Field visit schedule and interview guides.
  • Draft and final versions of the ‘Inside Story’ and video documentaries.
  • Completion report detailing the processes followed, key lessons and recommendations to inform future assignments of a similar nature.

Timeline

The consultancy will begin in August 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of February 2026 (six months)
